Do I have to book in advance?

Not necessarily! You don’t have to book in advance, but if you let us know ahead of time, we can do our very best to ensure the machine you need is available for hire.

Keep in mind that there’s often some setup required with attachments, so by notifying us in advance, you can avoid any wait time and we can have everything ready to go for you.

What if I want a different machine or something modified that isn’t on your hire list?

Get in touch. We have a huge range of machines and excavator attachments, and not everything is listed. We also purchase specific machines to suit our customers’ needs. Please contact us to discuss your requirements, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Insurance, damage and theft

How does Insurance work and what does it cover?

The insurance charge limits your liability for loss, theft, and damage to the hired equipment up to $5,000 plus GST. Below is a summary of how this typically works:

Coverage

  • Loss, Theft, and Damage: If the equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged, your maximum financial liability is capped at $5,000 plus GST.

Exclusions

  • Wilful Damage: Any intentional damage caused by the user is not covered.

  • Negligence: Damage resulting from improper use or failure to follow safety guidelines will not be covered.
Can I self-insure?

Yes, we would prefer if you did actually.

If you choose to add the hired equipment to your own insurance policy and provide a sufficient cover note, you won’t be charged the 10% insurance fee from Robur Hire. Here are some key points to consider:

Your Own Insurance

  • Coverage Requirement: All hired equipment must be insured, so you’ll need to ensure that your policy includes adequate cover for loss, theft, and damage.

  • Cover Note: You’ll need to provide a cover note or proof of insurance to confirm that the equipment is covered under your own policy.

Benefits

  • Cost Savings: By using your own insurance, you can avoid the additional 10% fee that would apply if you opted for the hire company’s insurance.

  • Control Over Coverage: You may have more flexibility and control over the coverage limits and terms.

Important Considerations

  • Review Your Policy: Ensure your insurance policy is comprehensive enough to cover the specific risks associated with the hired equipment.

  • Terms and Conditions: Double-check the hire company’s terms to ensure compliance with their requirements regarding insurance.

Hire Period and Pricing

Is there a minimum time I have to hire the machine?

You can hire the machine or attachment and return it as soon as you like, but please note that we have a minimum hire charge time of 1 day.

Does the rate get cheaper if I keep it longer?

Yes! Typically, once you hire an attachment for 3 days, it’s the same price as the weekly rate, allowing you to enjoy 7 days of use for the price of just 3 days. If you hire for 3 weeks, you’ll pay the same as our monthly rate, giving you a full month for the price of 3 weeks.

Please note that this applies to attachments. Excavators are usually based on an hourly rate. Some special conditions may apply, so ask us for more details.

How does long-term hire work?

Long-term hires are set at a special rate for a specified length of time. When you request a long-term hire, we’ll work out a tailored deal to suit your needs and worksite requirements. We’re committed to providing you with the best machinery in top condition for the duration of your hire. There are many advantages of long-term hire, like the ability to be able to utilise the hours on the machine over several months. Long term hire is a good alternative to owning the equipment with out the capital outlay.

What if I want to suspend or off-hire the machine for a day?

If the machine is not able to be used (due to inclement weather, holiday shutdown, etc.), please contact the hire coordinator at Robur Hire by 8:00 AM that morning (via phone or text). Depending on the machine and circumstances, we may be able to arrange to suspend the hire for the day.

  • Stand-Down Rate: Typically, this will be charged at a 50% stand-down rate, as the machine cannot be hired elsewhere.

  • Return Option: You are also welcome to return the machine at your own cost, in which case we will suspend the hire at 100% for the day.

Please note that during peak season, when machines are in high demand, Robur Hire reserves the right to decline suspension requests. We aim to be flexible and work with our customers, so please get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs

Can I work out a special hire rate with Robur Hire?

Absolutely! No two projects are the same, and we love a challenge. Let’s work together to create a deal that works for both of us. Please get in contact with us, and we’ll be glad to assist you.

What are my payment options?

If you have an account with us, we accept various payment methods, including:

  • Bank transfer

  • EFTPOS

  • Credit card

Payment is due on the 20th of the month following the invoice date.

If you don’t have an account, you will need to pay the hire charges in advance. This may include a hold on your credit card or a cash payment upfront, which will include a bond before the hire commences. Further payments will be processed during the hire period (depending on the length of the hire term), and any remaining costs will be finalised at the end of the hire.

Please discuss your needs with us, and our friendly staff will guide you through the process. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out.

How does Hire to Buy work?

Our Hire to Buy option allows you to hire a machine with the opportunity to purchase it later. Here’s how it works:

  1. Initial Agreement: We agree on the purchase price of the equipment, the hire rate and the hire rebate % before the hire commences.

  2. Initial Hire: You start by hiring the machine for a specified period, allowing you to assess its suitability for your needs and get started on your project.

  3. Purchase Option: If you decide to purchase the machine, the agreed portion of the hire fees will be deducted from the purchase price, reducing the overall cost.

  4. Normal Hire Terms: If you choose not to purchase the machine, the normal hire terms will apply for the duration of your hire.

  5. Ownership: Ownership of the machine remains with Robur Hire, and the machine remains on hire until it is paid for in full.

  6. Flexible Terms: We can create a tailored agreement that suits your requirements, ensuring a smooth transition from hiring to ownership.

If you’re interested in the Hire to Buy option or have any questions, please contact us, and our team will be happy to assist.
